Session 09/10 - "All Things New"

The theme for this session of Presbyterian Women was ‘All Things New,’ and in our meetings we have tried to reflect this in various ways. Our devotional readings, at the beginning of each meeting, related ‘new’ things which might be part of our earthly experience (a new baby, a new job, a new home…) to aspects of our potential spiritual life, and encouraged us to grow in our faith.

The topics covered by our speakers have ranged from jewellery making and patchwork, Tearfund ‘Created’ crafts, and the picking and processing of Punjana tea (with free samples for all), to life as a prison chaplain, and the work of the Stauros Foundation with people who are addicted to alcohol and other drugs. We have even had a ‘DIY’ night – not painting and decorating, but a Christmas programme, entitled ‘A New King,’ which was presented entirely by our own members, and included a delicious supper provided by the committee.

The PW Group is a friendly bunch of women who enjoy meeting month by month, usually on the third Monday, for fellowship with one another, and to hear what our varied speakers have to tell us. We have had a DVD night, hope to visit the Opera House for a musical at the end of March, and look forward to our annual day-outing in May, this year to Fermanagh.

We always love to welcome new members, so if you have never been to a PW meeting before, and would like to see what goes on, there is still time before the session ends. Listen for the announcements in church, or check the monthly announcements sheet for details, and come along. You won’t regret it!
